Star Trek Excalibur the much aniticipated fan made sequal to Bridge Commander has had some recent updates, they have their own forums set up now so scoot on over sign up and let the guys know what a great job they are doing. They have also released some new media showing Wolf 359 ships (makes me think you may be able to set up historical trek battles) and also sun effects. This is undoubtably one of the best fan projects under way and i believe it will put most of the commercial made games to shame.

After the recent problems with spam in the shout box, we've been working to find a new way to accomodate a chat system with more control and features for users and admin to use. We've now implemented a new instant messaging service that is available to all site members. Just click the Chat box under the Resources section on the left of the screen to enter the Chat feature. Why not give it a test and say hi to other site users?

New fan game announced. Klogd has recently posted in the forums about a new game he has begun work upon. Here is the gist of it I'm currently working on a star trek multiplayer strategy game.. It will be a little like BOTF, but focus on multiplayer.
The games will be larger than BOTF (with up to 1000-2000 starsystems in a single game), have more players (2-50), and the game will run over a long time. (smaller games with shorter tick speeds are of course possible). The game will be domination type game where each faction (federation, cardassian, klingon, romulan, dominion) try to become dominant by whooping ass. Read the whole post here Visit his website here

As Jigalypuff stated in the previous news item, voting has begun on star-trek-games.com for the annual Trek games awards. However, categories that received only a single nomination are automatic winners - and those winners have been announced. Our very own CdrWolfe has therefore won the award for best fan-created game with his Star Trek: Engagement! (Also known as the BOTF2 Combat System) Congratulations Wolfe, you deserve this, mate!
