Birth of the Empires Trek Total Conversion Mod

Overview

Birth of the Empires, also known as "BotE", is a game being developed by a group of Germans, led by SirPustekuchen. SirPustekuchen started his project in January 2004 and went public in August 2006. BotE is a downloadable game that was originally intended as a spiritual successor to BotF. Recent fears over legalities, however, has meant that the Trek content was removed from the official version hosted by SirPustekuchen. The original game now features completely new game content. The game is highly moddable however, and a Star Trek mod will be the first total conversion mod of the game. This may sound like a strange system, but it will help to reduce or avoid many legal issues.

Storyline

Earth, 2121: With the 60th anniversary of Zefram Cochrane's first Warp flight coming nearer and the third world war long in the past, the future looks bright again for mankind. The whole universe with all its fascinating worlds, lifeforms, species and anomalies lies ahead of each brave man and woman aboard their starships eager to find new life, a new home and contact to whatever civilization there may be outside Sol system, to boldly go, where no man has gone before.

Game description

Take command of any of the 6 alpha quadrant main powers during the beginning stages of their empires but beware, history as known from "canon", will likely change and you are challenged to keep the balance within the galaxy quadrant or seize galactic power for your race and thereby establish your own "balance" in the galaxy!

In Birth of the Empires Trek TC of the original Birth of the Empires free fan-made game, you will be able to lead your empire in the good old tradition of turn-based strategy "behemoths" like Master of Orion and of course Birth of the Federation, the underlying spiritual predecessor. Explore the galaxy with your ships, Expand your known universe by colonizing and conquering new worlds, Exploit your colonies and galactic partners to have the best outcome for your people and Exterminate all enemies you encounter in your neighborhood but beware, false friends are possibly right behind you...
