There is a new early release for Star Trek Universe. It includes xml file handling, race loading, a mainmenu, some small fixes and a basis for multilanguages. This release, does not feature any gameplay, so only download it, if you want to test it and check it out. You can download it in the download section. You are required to have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) installed in order to play the game. Redistributable Package: link Forum link for feedback and discussion

Star Trek Universe is a game under the development by Iwulff from the Star-Trek-Games.com website and the BotF2 forum. It's currently in a very early stage of development and the main focus is concentrating on the engine of the game and the game documentation. The 2D graphics will be handled by the HGE dll: http://hge.relishgames.com/ , which is ideal for 2D display. Star Trek Resurrection is a sequal to Birth of the Federation.
The idea is that a player can choose a race even outside the strongest races. For instance a player can make things harder for himself by starting as a Vulcan race or as the Tholian Assembly. The amount of resources, population and planets conditions as well as starting bonuses will be less compared to that of the Klingon Empire or even the Cardassian Union in this case. The reason why I didn't place the Cardassian Union as a Quadrant Race, is because I don't see it as an equal to those standing there. Screenshot:

Here is the features list for Star Trek Universe (tentative title): - Zoom with map
- Move around map with mouse
- You can play as any race
- Major races have higher bonuses then minor races (this makes it harder for you).
- All races/empires can join you, when there size and pride is small enough.
- Through the attack and invasion of more advanced colonies/ships you will receive research bonuses/breakthroughs
- [unsure] The Borg will be a empire just like any other, but will receive a very high bonus when defeating others. They also have a enormous dislike for anyone. Normally the Borg will be unplayable and can be set to off.
- There will come a techtree, along with a upgrade mode. Here you can upgrade technologies you have researched like the Warp drive or inertia dampeners.
- [unsure] The further a ship is from a allied/affiliated/own colony the more credits it will cost to sustain it.
- [unsure] When you expand your territory this territory will be assigned to nearby colonies/outposts, only when these colonies/outposts get subjugated/annihilated will someone else be able to take these territories.
- [unsure] You can research any technology you want, with the Federation you can research a cloaking device. However the use of certain technologies can be negotiated through diplomacy. The Romulans or the Ferengi might demand you to remove your cloaking devices on your ships in return for peace.
- [unsure] STL (Slower Then Light), When you plan to move to another sector, the number of leftover points are stored in the ship. This means that when it reaches 1.2, with STL of 0.3. You will move to a different sector with 0.2 left for the next movement. The same is to say about a speed of 2.5, you will move 5 sectors in 2 turns. The first turn 2 the second turn 3. The amount of decimals is something to think about but i think that 1 decimal should be enough. This way i can put it as a integer with 10, being 1 movement each turn.
Please post any ideas, features, etc.., you think should be put in, in this topic.
There is also a topic where you can give ideas for a name.

I thought it would be fun to create a game and thus I have created something that looks a bit like a 4x game. But is nowhere near reaching that.. yet. The graphics are the same as of Supremacy.. hey I'm no artist. The title of the game is tentative, and might change in the future. When starting the game count on getting an error or that you are forced to restart it. You can change settings in the .ini file, including map settings: [MAP_SETTINGS] WIDTH = 500 HEIGHT = 500 You are required to have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) installed in order to play the game.
